Identity Man on IdentityMan.Info

For the past several years, Identity Woman has been Saving the World with User-centric Identity. For those who don't know her, Kaliya is a freelance evangelist for open standards in user-centric digital identity, whom I had the privilege of meeting briefly last year a community building event at Stanford.

// Update 06.04.2007 - though intended light heartedly, an unappreciated associating statement has been deleted from this entry out of respect for the wider OIM community. I hope this will show my goodwill in contributing in some small way to increasing awareness of OIM issues. //

Welcome another portal focused upon the issue of OIM: IdentityMan.Info. It may take a couple of days for DNS to propagate, but after that, the URL should be live.

I believe this reflective symbolic pseudonym makes sense because the Tools approach of IDW and the Corporate Accountability and Expansion of Identity approaches of IDM seemingly provide useful complementary perspectives for exploring the omni-dimensional implications of the Identity Big Bang, presently underway.

I do hope that IDW will consider this as the friendly gesture of partnership intended; as a natural expression of an enthusiastic shared interest in elevating the discussion and awareness of OIM issues, in general.

Don't you think you might have asked me first? Do you not think that I as the woman might determine who gets to be 'my man'. Who do you think I might think is a complement (not you). ...In truth there are SOOOO many men that I actually work with in Identity. I like to think of them all as the identity men. There really is no one other guy that is my "one" complement.

Finding your own blog name is a challenge however you might just try and think of an original name for yourself that reflects your own point of view and viewpoint in the industry.

Thanks for the post; although this does read somewhat defensive. Still, I know better than to attempt to discern actual emotional tone from ASCII text. I certainly didn't think I needed to ask permission for something that's been a personal passion since at least 2001.

Obviously, there are THOUSANDS of men AND WOMEN who have done much more technical work in the relatively nondescript realm generally referred to as "the identity space." What qualifies you to be the One And Only "Identity Woman" compared to all those other women?

These are just awareness-building pseudonyms; nothing more. I apologize if you've felt somehow offended, and certainly hold nothing but the highest respect for your substantive passionate work; but honestly, I don't see you as owning the identity space any more than anyone else; much less as a gatekeeper of all related pseudonyms.

Taking such a position is about as useful as my attempting to police use of "my" 1990's concepts of Ethernet To The Home and EthernetTV. Sure, we built the first working prototypes of the former and have plenty of prior use evidence for the latter concept; but what's the point of attempting to control proliferation of the concepts when the agenda is to see awareness expanded and elevated?

Am I missing something else, here? Thanks again for taking the time to chat.

Just to follow on, John Steinbeck said, "A book is like a man - clever and dull, brave and cowardly, beautiful and ugly. For every flowering thought there will be a page like a wet and mangy mongrel, and for every looping flight a tap on the wing and a reminder that wax cannot hold the feathers firm too near the sun."

How much more so a personal web site ... a feeble ASCII refraction of one's all-too-human and flawed Online Identity Management ... part stream-of-consciousness keylogger, part introverted exhibitionist diary, part experimental exo-cortex, consisting of 3 to 5 categories or classes of socio-technological interest blogified into ad hoc conceptual clumps such as this site?
