Own Your Identity: So now it's sinking in, eh?

Marco Arment has a new entry on owning your identity. His words are solid and it's good advice: From blogs to email addresses to an online presence, trying to build a permanent structure on someone else's land is seldom a good idea.

If you care about your online presence, you must own it. I do, and that’s why my email address has always been at my own domain, not the domain of any employer or webmail service.
